Trooping of the Colour is a military tradition dating back to the early 18th century, to celebrate the Queen's official birthday. Originally it was all about helping soldiers to recognise their own standard in the chaos of battle, but now it is a continuation of tradition, with very impressive marching manoeuvres and a fantastic opportunity for spotting royalty.
Whilst the main event is in June, tickets are being released for the May ceremonies, being watched over by His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge.
